Just minutes after I asked, the people responded saying:
Mercuri-- I think it's garbage. It really serves no particular purpose. It's a solution looking for a problem.
Ben-- Well to start off, it can't be used to replace your iPod or to replace your computer. It's strength lies in the portability. I know many doctors, for instance, who currently carry around tablets (which suck compared to the iPad) to take notes during appointments. The iPad would work well for that. The iPad would also work well for education. I'm a college student and there are many times I would have liked a tablet for taking notes instead of pencil and paper or a traditional laptop.
MartiPanda--
I wouldn't bother, it's only for the fanboys.
Mark--
another gadget---another way to waste your money on impluse buying
gto69judge-- I think the iPad is an iPod Touch on some serious steroids. It's only use is for the good little iSheep to give Apple more money.
There are plenty of E-book readers on the market already. There are plenty of MP3 players on the market already. There are tablet PC's and portable gaming systems on the market already. $499 (base model!) is way too steep for just taking notes. A $299 Netbook can do the same thing.
As far as games go, I also believe that the games on iPod/iPad frankly suck compared to those available on Nintendo DS or Sony PSP.
Sure, the iPad does a lot, but it doesn't do anything particularly well.
Danny--
It's an oversize iTouch. but wait I think I've heard some company is making a window 7 for the ipad. That will be cool. Just wait and see. for now it is an oversize iTouch
